If all you want is a day on the beach and no other park amenities, this will save you $30. But if you are only going to be here for a week, there is a parking space a little ways down the road less than a 1/2 mile where you can have direct access to the beach for no charge. That will get you into all Michigan state parks for a year. ![]() (Water is about 50 degrees in June.brrrrrrr) It is supremely beautiful here, it looks like the ocean.Ī tip for out of staters.a yearly pass to this park is $30. The kids had a wonderful time building sandcastles, playing frisbee, going for long walks, and playing in the COLD water. We stayed in a rental property 2 miles away from this beach for 1 week, and each morning we would come to the beach to set up our tent, chairs and umbrella and would stay all day. This is a secret paradise for children! The beach is very uncrowded, the sand is soft, and the people we did encounter were extremely kind and respectful. Tripadvisor only lets me select one type of visit but I have been here many times and this is a great place to take family with young kids or teens or a friends get together and there are several places nearby for business meetings. There is a varying cost to this service each year. As an alternate you can park along US31 at a local shopping center (enter Family Dollar in your GPS) and ride the bus system to the park, you just don't have access to your car but they will give you a ride back too. Plan a trip to Pronto Pups for a Grand Haven lunch treat.ĪRRIVE EARLY (by 11am) on a hot Michigan day as the park reaches capacity very quickly and often there is a mile long line of cars trying to get in only to be turned away so don't be surprised by this. There are many other food and ice cream places within walking distance but not for too young of kids. Park has fantastic volleyball courts and Lake Michigans famous "Singing Sand". Bring all your beach toys because there is plenty of space to play. The beach has full facilities to shower after a day on the beach and has a small food court. From sandy beaches to a huge variety of trails and playgrounds, Grand Haven State Park has something for everyone.Yes the Beach should Beckon's but in Grand Haven the State Park beach is situated next to the boardwalk which leads to a lighthouse and a tower beacon and is an awesome place for seeing a romantic sunset. Grand Haven State Park is open year-round and offers something for every member of your family. In the springtime, visitors can see Sandhill cranes and White pelicans, while in the fall large flocks of American white pelicans line up along the beach. The park is well-known as a prime location for watching migrating birds. No matter what time of year you visit, Grand Haven State Park is a beautiful place to spend some time outdoors. In the winter, the park becomes a popular spot for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. ![]() There are also several playgrounds and a picnic area available for families. In the warmer months, visitors can enjoy kayaking, biking, and hiking. Grand Haven State Park is open year-round and offers a variety of activities depending on the season. A park is also a great place for birdwatching, as more than 200 species of birds have been spotted in the area. The expansive beach at Grand Haven State Park is a popular spot for swimming, sunbathing, and fishing. Grand Haven is home to one of the most beautiful beaches along Lake Michigan's eastern shore. The classic small-town feel of the city is balanced with the modern luxuries that residents have come to expect in their day-to-day lives.
